New Pokemon TCG Pocket Update Reveals Promo Cards for Upcoming Events

The latest update for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket introduces a look at several new promo cards, tied to upcoming in-game events. Since its release a month ago, Pokémon TCG Pocket has been consistently rolling out events to keep players engaged, often offering promo cards as rewards. These events range from Wonder Picks, like the new Mass Outbreak event, to special one-card promo packs.

A key highlight of the new update is the reveal of promo cards tied to an event centered around Bulbasaur and Magnemite. Although not officially visible in the app, Reddit user Gastaldaddy managed to uncover greyed-out images of the new cards, which include Jigglypuff, Onix, Greninja, Haunter, Bulbasaur, and Magnemite.

Both Bulbasaur and Magnemite carry a Chansey stamp, signaling that they will be part of the Chansey Wonder Pick event scheduled for December 6th to 20th. This new event will feature Wonder Picks, which players can pull from using two Wonder Stamina for a chance to obtain the cards. Players will have a 1 in 5 chance of getting the desired card, with the previous Meowth Wonder Pick event showing that multiple copies of a card could appear, making it easier to get the cards you want.

In addition to the Wonder Pick event, new promo cards will be available through a Venusaur solo battle event, which will be similar to the Lapras ex event. Players will battle against computer-controlled themed decks, with Venusaur likely being a key feature of the decks. To prepare, players should build a Fire-type deck ahead of the event's launch. As players defeat these decks, they will be rewarded with one-card promo packs, with the chance to earn Venusaur and other promo cards, along with themed flair and accessories.

However, the Mass Outbreak Wonder Pick event highlights some concerns about Pokémon TCG Pocket's event structure. Wonder Stamina is used to collect rare cards, but for players not aiming for completion, it may be difficult to justify spending 2 or 3 Wonder Stamina on more common cards. While Bulbasaur and Magnemite are appealing, they may not be as exciting as rare finds like the Illustration Rare Bulbasaur. Hopefully, future events will offer more diverse selections to make the rewards more enticing.
