Marvel Rivals Goes Gold Ahead of Full Launch on December 6

Marvel Rivals, the highly anticipated superhero multiplayer arena shooter from developer NetEase Games, has officially gone gold, marking a significant step toward its full launch. After a year of closed alpha and beta tests, the game has earned praise for capturing the fast-paced action of titles like Overwatch and Apex Legends, all while giving it a Marvel twist. Fans won’t have to wait much longer, as Marvel Rivals is set to go live on December 6.

The game will feature an impressive roster of 28 confirmed playable characters, with more to come as the first season unfolds. A total of 33 characters are promised, and the latest addition is Hawkeye, who will take up his bow and sword to battle Doctor Doom and his "Time Experiments." Players will also get to explore iconic Marvel locations, including a map set in a Hydra facility.

With the game now officially "gone gold," meaning that core development is complete and it's ready for production, Marvel Rivals is inching closer to its official release. The announcement was accompanied by a promotional image of Galacta, the daughter of the powerful villain Galactus, who will play a major role in the game's storyline.

In addition to the December 6 launch, NetEase is planning a crossover with Fortnite, offering players of that game a special item after completing ten standard matches in Marvel Rivals. There will also be exclusive bonus content at launch, including a special Captain America skin inspired by his gladiator-like appearance in the Planet Hulk event from 2015.

The team behind Marvel Rivals has been polling fans for feedback on future characters they'd like to see added post-launch. Top choices so far include fan favorites like Ghost Rider, Deadpool, and Gambit.
